# Building Executive Presentations

Most presentations fail because they are structured like a mystery novel: background, analysis, more analysis, and finally the conclusion on slide 47. Executives need the opposite: conclusion first, evidence second, details available if asked.

The Pyramid Principle

Barbara Minto's Pyramid Principle is the gold standard for executive communication:

  1. 1.Start with the answer (what should we do?)
  2. 2.Support with key reasons (3-4 supporting arguments)
  3. 3.Back each reason with evidence (data, examples, analysis)
Create a presentation outline using the Pyramid Principle.
