A clear program model is the GPS for everything else: it guides implementation, informs evaluation, and strengthens funding proposals.
Build a comprehensive logic model for:
Program: After-school youth mentoring program
Goal: Improve academic outcomes and social-emotional development
for middle school students in underserved communities
INPUTS (what we invest):
- Staff (program coordinator, volunteer coordinator, case manager)
- Trained volunteer mentors
- Curriculum and materials
- Facility space at 4 community sites
- Partnerships (schools, families, community organizations)
- Funding ($350K annually)
ACTIVITIES (what we do):
- Recruit, screen, and train mentors (40 hours training)
- Match mentors with students based on interests/needs
- Weekly 90-minute mentoring sessions (academic + social)
- Monthly group activities (field trips, workshops, service projects)
- Quarterly family engagement events
- Ongoing mentor support and supervision
