# Advanced: Comparative Financial Analysis

Analyzing one company's financials in isolation is like evaluating a student's test score without knowing the class average. A 75% might be excellent (if the average is 60%) or concerning (if the average is 90%). Financial analysis becomes truly powerful when you compare across companies, across time periods, and against industry benchmarks.

Technique: Peer Comparison

Compare the financial performance of the following three companies
in the [industry] sector:

COMPANY A: [paste key financial data or summary]
COMPANY B: [paste key financial data or summary]
COMPANY C: [paste key financial data or summary]

Create a comparison table with these metrics:
| Metric | Company A | Company B | Company C | Industry Avg |
|--------|-----------|-----------|-----------|-------------|

Metrics to compare:
GROWTH: Revenue growth (YoY), Customer/user growth
PROFITABILITY: Gross margin, Operating margin, Net margin
EFFICIENCY: Revenue per employee, Asset turnover
CASH: Operating cash flow margin, Free cash flow
LEVERAGE: Debt-to-equity, Interest coverage
VALUATION (if public): P/E ratio, EV/Revenue

Then provide:
1. WINNER BY CATEGORY: Which company leads in each area?
2. OVERALL RANKING: If you had to rank these companies by financial
health, what is the order and why?
3. RED FLAGS: Specific concerns for each company
4. QUESTIONS FOR FURTHER RESEARCH: What additional data would change
   your assessment?
